Research and development of alkali-activated materials: Lead the research and development efforts focused on alkali-activated materials within the mining industry. This includes investigating novel formulations/mix designs, optimizing production processes, and enhancing material properties.
Material characterization and testing: Conduct comprehensive material characterization and testing to assess the performance, durability, and suitability of sidestreams for various mining applications.
Product development and innovation: Drive product development initiatives by conceptualizing, designing, and prototyping new alkali-activated material products tailored to meet the specific needs and challenges of the mining industry.
Collaboration and stakeholder engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders in the mining sector to understand industry requirements, gather feedback, and align R&D efforts with market needs.
Technical documentation and reporting: Prepare technical reports, research papers, and documentation detailing R&D findings, experimental results, and project milestones. Communicate research outcomes effectively to internal stakeholders, management, and external audiences.
Improving in-house mining competency at Betolar: Facilitate technology transfer activities by transferring R&D innovations and knowledge into practical applications within the mining business stream. Provide technical expertise, training, and support to internal teams and external partners.
You have
Master of Science or Doctoral degree in a technical field [e.g. mining/environmental engineering, geology, minerology, process engineering (mineral processes), chemistry etc.] or equivalent work experience
10+ years of experience in a mining sector
Practical experience in lab-work
Proven track record of doing R&D work in a relevant field
In depth understanding of materials, processes, solutions and their scalability in a mining sector
Understanding of side streams and their potential utilization in a mining sector
Understanding on environmental and technical challenges related to mining sector
Excellent problem solving and communication skills
Project management skills and familiarity with project management tools and methods
Ability to work in multiple project environment
Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Finnish is advantageous
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required
