Come work with us at the heart of Helsinki's strategic research and help shape the future of urban development.The City of Helsinki's Urban Research and Statistics Unit is looking for an English-speaking intern for a three-month internship between September and December 2025 (exact dates to be agreed with the selected candidate). Successful candidates are expected to be proficient in English (basic knowledge of Finnish is considered an advantage, but not a requirement).The Urban Research and Statistics Unit operates under the Strategy Division of the City Executive Office and serves as the central hub for strategic research and analysis, supporting city leadership and departments in data-driven decision-making.Who are we looking for?We're looking for someone who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow as part of our team. While your academic background doesn't need to be a perfect match, studies in fields like social sciences, urban studies, geography, economics, or statistics are a plus.To succeed in this role, you should:

Be currently pursuing a master's degree at a Finnish university
Be proficient in English (basic Finnish is an advantage, but not required)
Have some prior knowledge of research methods and/or data management
Be genuinely interested in urban development and city-related issues
Have strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
Be able to work independently and show a willingness to learn new things
Enjoy working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment

What will you do?As an intern, you will join our team and contribute to ongoing research projects and data management tasks. Your specific responsibilities will be tailored to your interests, skills, and previous experience.
