This is your invitation to rise above the possible.Job posting end date: 04/28/2024We are seeking a creative Technology Manager to join our Smelting business line and be responsible for our solution portfolio of Off-gas handling for Smelting technologies.This position is mainly located in Espoo, Finland, or Skellefteå, Sweden, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.Team you belong toYou will be working in our technology groups in close cooperation with sales, engineering, and delivery functions to provide solutions and offerings in all phases of the technology lifecycle. You will work closely with product managers and process designers to develop the best available technical concept for the customer. Sometimes, you need skills in areas outside the core competency. You will also be expected to lead, and collaborate with influence and work with cross-functional team members from all relevant functions within the business in our matrix organization. Excellent communication and leadership skills will be crucial to success.What you will doYou will collaborate with world-class and industry-leading technical people managing, developing, and optimizing solutions for smelting process off-gas handling and cleaning as:
  • Be responsible for sustainable off-gas handling concepts, design, and development for SO2 and CO2-containing gases to achieve competitiveness and sustainability in smelters' life cycle.
  • Develop the core value proposition and brand for off-gas handling and cleaning targeted for new pursuits
  • Identify gaps and generate new ideas that contribute to improvements in solution concepts
  • Develop and maintain integration of our proprietary and 3rd party equipment in a modularized and technical way in our offering solutions
  • Act as a matrix leader for specialists in the off-gas-related area in our smelting team.
  • Ensuring that safety regulations, directives, and standards are followed during the design, manufacturing, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Support preparing proposals for smelter sales cases and provide product/solution support to sales and services.
  • Participate in process and equipment problem-solving activities and support customers worldwide around varying topics related to technical solution area
  • Interact as a member of a team in cross-cultural market area, supply, process design, delivery, and other members in the delivery projects
Who you areThe Technology Manager´s primary responsibility is to take ownership of your area in the Smelting portfolio and lead topics proactively, so we are looking at the following:
  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Engineering, preferably in metallurgy, chemical engineering, process engineering or related field
  • Proven successful experience in metals processing or heavy industry operations, maintenance, or engineering.
  • Deep responsibility and ownership of technical aspects also in areas outside the core competence.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Problem-solving skills and end-user-driven mindset
  • Language skills: English (written, listening, and oral)
