Are you looking to take your first or second steps as a designer working on real UI & UX improvements for a large digital service with millions of yearly users? Do you know what a design system is and would you like to be a part of working on one?We are looking for a Junior Digital Experience Designer to support the development of Aalto Design System and www.aalto.fi design practices. You will have plenty of support from experienced experts and designers helping you get acquainted with our tools and processes making this a great opportunity to learn and get real hands-on experience.This is a fixed term contract from May 2024 to March 2025.Your role and goalsIn this role you will take active part in our co-design sessions and design reviews working on real UI & UX challenges to help the continuous improvement of www.aalto.fi and our design system.You’ll work alongside the www.aalto.fi designer to ensure that new designs and prototypes meet user needs and engage with users to collect feedback to influence design decisions. In addition, you’ll support the design system designer and developers to ensure that new components and features are on brand and according to Aalto DX principles. Finally, you’ll support internal stakeholders that are working with the Aalto Design System.It may sound like a lot, but you will have plenty of support from experienced experts helping you to be successful.Your network and teamYou will be part of the Digital Experience and Analytics team within the wider Communications team at Aalto. The Digital Experience team runs digital development and design processes for a variety of digital touchpoints relying heavily on data and user feedback to guide our decisions and actions.Though we all have our responsibility areas, we work very actively together to ideate solutions and leverage all the unique skills and abilities we all have. We are driven and make the best use of agile ways of working to maximize efficiency.In addition to the current team members, we are also recruiting a Junior Digital Communications coordinator that you will be working closely with.Your experience and ambitions

What you lack in experience, you make up for with having natural design talent and a passion for great UX & UI. In addition, you understand service design practices and principles and you are interested in working with and on a design system.
You have a good handle on Figma along with a good eye for detail and great UX & UI.
It would also be great if you had a basic understanding of digital accessibility requirements and how they can be a powerful driver for great design.
You communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken. Fluency in Finnish is seen as an advantage.
