Offer DescriptionWe are looking for a researcher for the projects of Natural Resources Institute Finland where fungi are utilized in a novel manner in order to promote biodiversity. The position is fixed-term between 1.6.-31.12.2026.Job descriptionWe are looking for a researcher for projects relating to fungi. Work includes fungal cultivations in the laboratory, field work, data collection as well as statistical analyses and reporting. The aim of the projects is to develop a new method to control the growth and spread of alien invasive plant species based on the use of a fungal species, and to collect data on the dispersal of the spores of threatened wood-inhabiting fungi. A researcher will be supervised by Principal Scientist Leena Hamberg. Work includes cooperation with Finnish and Swedish collaborators.Our expectations of the applicant
  • a doctoral degree in a relevant field, e.g., biology or forestry
  • ability to do field work
  • competence in fungal ecology, fungal cultivations in the laboratory and fungal spore collection
  • skills in statistics
  • fluent written and spoken English skills

  • Trial period: The trial period is half the duration of the employment contract, but not exceeding six (6) months.
  • Remuneration information: The position is at complexity level 8 in Luke's salary system and the position specific salary is EUR 3596,42 per month. In addition, a salary component based on personal performance will be paid (max. 50% of the position specific salary). A new employee's personal performance component depends on competence and experience and generally falls in the range of 15-20 %. The applicant may also present a separate salary request.
