- Owning and driving the overall combat vision from early prototypes through to launch-quality production
- Designing core combat systems from scratch, including weapons, abilities, enemies, levels, and moment-to-moment combat feel
- Rapidly prototyping, testing, and iterating on combat mechanics with a strong focus on clarity, responsiveness, and mobile playability
- Working closely with engineers to ensure combat systems are technically feasible, performant, and scalable across mobile devices
- Collaborating with art, UX, and audio teams to ensure combat is readable, expressive, and satisfying for players
- Driving alignment around combat direction while confidently making decisions and clearly explaining design rationale
- Actively playtesting, gathering feedback, and using iteration and failure as tools to improve combat quality
- 6+ years of professional experience as a combat designer on mobile games
- Proven experience leading combat design or building a combat system from the ground up
- Strong understanding of third-person action shooter combat, ideally within or adjacent to the extraction genre
- A mobile-first mindset, with experience designing deep systems that respect mobile constraints
- Comfort working in early-stage development with high levels of ambiguity
- Confidence to make decisions without consensus, while bringing the team along through clear communication
- Strong cross-disciplinary collaboration and communication skills
- A willingness to experiment, fail fast, learn, and iterate rapidly
- Experience working on live or service-based games
- Background designing combat for mobile shooters or action games
- Familiarity with data-informed iteration and playtest-driven development
- Experience working in small, autonomous, highly collaborative teams
