- Drives consistent and high-quality UX design for the Vaisala products and systems. UX design focuses on software interfaces of our software and hardware products and systems. The scope covers different business lines product development and customer facing UX design
- Responsible for developing UX design competence. This includes UX design-related practices, tools, processes and setting the quality standards
- Plans and manages the work with the product teams, product areas, business lines and possible other stakeholders
- Supervisor for the UX designers working in Vaisala Design team
- Conducts and supports UX design initiatives across product, system, and company-wide levels
- Acts as a counterpart to the Design System team, requesting and conducting work in close collaboration with them
- The UX designers reporting to the design lead will also contribute to concept design, industrial design, service design, and other user-centered design activities within the Vaisala Design team and outside of the direct scope of UX design
- Excellent skills in interaction and visual design. Strong command of UX design tools, methods, and workflows. Deep expertise in human-centered design and design thinking
- Ability to design across levels - from micro interactions and features to products, systems, user journeys that cross many products and systems, and the full Vaisala customer and user journeys
- Leadership in guiding, motivating, and setting clear expectations for individuals and teams
- Vision and capability to evolve ways of working, tools, and processes across products, the UX team, product development, and the broader Vaisala organization
- Passion and skills in building and developing high-performing UX design competence
- Enthusiasm for following developments in the field and staying at the forefront of UX both in Finland and globally. Creating entirely new ways of working and viewpoints that inspire interest and adoption from others
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills with stakeholders across projects, R&D, and product development, including UX resourcing, planning, and quality standards
- Ability to represent and advocate for UX design across the organization
- An empathetic and supportive leader who develops people with care and courage, unafraid to address difficult situations constructively
- Master's or bachelor's degree in human-centered design or a related field, or equivalent understanding gained through professional experience
